NYSDEC Brownfield Remediation
Horace Harding Blvd, Queens, New York

 

New York State has been busy working on the brownfields legislation over the last decade.  The Brownfields Cleanup Program (BCP) has been streamlined to facilitate the application process.   EEA’s HazMat Team has been busy with a Brownfield site in the borough of Queens.  Link to our Winter Edition to read the highlights of this work in progress.

ECOLOGY DIVISION
 

Erin Brosnan, Restoration Ecologist, is attending the “Friends of Flax Pond” 2009 Winter Lecture Series.  Owned by NYSDEC, Flax Pond is a tidal estuary behind a barrier beach located in Old Field Village, Setauket, NY.  Contact Erin at our Ecology Office for more information at 751-4600.

AIR QUALITY AND NOISE DIVISION

EEA is preparing to undertake two new air quality & noise studies in the New York region.  One study supports the rehabilitation of eight bridges at the Grand Central Parkway/Clearview Expressway Interchange. The second study is a screening analysis of traffic-generated carbon monoxide emissions and a mesoscale air quality analysis to evaluate the traffic emissions for a proposed widening of a 1.5-mile section of County Route 39 in Southampton.  Contact Vic Fahrer at vfaher@eeaconsultants.com for details.
