CONTAMINATED SITE AND
BROWNFIELD CLEANUPS
Approaches: High Tech versus Excavate and Haul
Dear EEA
Friend:
We hope you
enjoyed our special Summer
Edition of EEA’s newsletter, celebrating 25 years of excellence
in environmental consulting services. Please use our link above if
you missed this informative and interesting issue on EEA's history.
This edition of
EEA’s Insights newsletter focuses on some of the alternative
approaches for cleanup of hazardous materials on contaminated
sites. There is a strong market for residential redevelopment of
industrial sites, particularly near the water in Brooklyn and Queens
overlooking Manhattan, as well as locations that can accommodate
larger developments on Long Island. EEA has been actively involved
in the testing and cleanup of contamination for some of the more
significant parcels. Although major segments of EEA's
work are for or within New York City, EEA has been awarded
significant studies in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, where its two
main offices are located. EEA is in the final stages of
remediation of the former Smithtown Hospital site for a planned
residential development in Suffolk County. EEA also holds
multiyear governmental task order contracts for hazmat assessments.
EEA is proud to have won in October the following two
significant competitive contracts: 1)
For Keyspan, conducting the
environmental studies and preparing the State permit applications
(Article VII) for the electric transmission line right-of-way for
the offshore siting of LIPA’s Wind Energy Systems in the Atlantic
Ocean offshore of Jones Island and 2)
For Suffolk County, Contract
with Nelson, Pope & Voorhis LLC to prepare a North Shore Embayments
Watershed Management Plan.At EEA, we have a diversified and
creative team of professionals meeting the challenges and providing
sound solutions to today's hazmat problems. Please link below to

In
keeping with our desire to be
environmentally friendly and cost conscious, we are continuing our
electronic Newsletter instead of printing and mass mailing to our
clients and friends. We will continue sending notices of each new
edition. We welcome your e-mail comments on our approach.
