Nicholas Recchia is a
Vice President of EEA and manages the EEA’s Hazardous Materials Subsurface
Testing and Remediation Group. He is a Licensed Professional Geologist (PG,
Indiana), Licensed Subsurface Investigator (New Jersey Department of
Environmental Protection, and National Groundwater Association Certified in
Monitor Well Construction. Mr. Recchia is in charge of the development,
management, and supervision of EEA’s hazardous waste site investigations and
remedial corrective actions for commercial/industrial and government properties.
Mr. Recchia joined EEA in 1989 as a
hydrogeologist for hazardous waste testing studies. He has performed hazmat
investigations at over 500 sites. He has also completed remedial cleanup
actions at over 100 sites since joining EEA. His past experience includes
preparation of Quality Assurance and Protection Plans, Health and Safety Plans,
and environmental assessments for remedial investigations and feasibility
studies at various State and Federal Superfund sites. He oversees monitoring
data and technical information to determine the magnitude of environmental
impacts posed by hazardous waste sites. Mr. Recchia is currently involved in the
implementation of corrective actions for soil and groundwater restoration at
various hazardous waste sites in the New York metropolitan region.
Mr. Recchia received his
dual Bachelor’s at SUNY Oneonta in Geology/Water Resources and his Master’s
Degree in Earth Science/Hydrogeology from Adelphi University. He is an active
member of numerous professional affiliations including the Association of
Groundwater Scientists and Engineers (NWGA), Association of Engineering
Geologists (AEG), Association for the Environmental Health of Soils (AEHS) and
Long Island Association of Professional Geologists.
His past experience with Eder Associates
Consulting Engineers P.C. (1985-89) included the implementation of corrective
actions and aquifer restoration plans at hazardous waste sites undergoing
remedial action. Prior to working at Eder, Mr. Recchia was a hydrogeologist at
Storch Associates Engineers. He was responsible for oversight and inspection of
monitor well installations, soil and groundwater sample collection, preparation,
and quality assurance custodial requirements. He performed groundwater contour
and flow direction map drafting.
A true outdoorsman, Mr. Recchia can be found
hiking, camping, kayaking and fishing. Active in the Boy Scouts, he recently
received his Wood Badge Leader Award and can be found leading his Cub Scout Den
on local hikes. Ask him about geocaching if you feel the urge to go treasure
